Just so happens I am working on one of those at work right now.
Someone had stripped the plug out in it.   So I pulled the cylinder off of it so that a helicoil can be put in it.
The cylinder is made by Gilardoni and is a quad closed port transfer design.   I also did a check of the squish without the base gasket and measured .023".    I measure the base gasket and it was .020.
The shop I work in had a guy there put the helicoil in the cylinder and I have to say he did a really nice job on it and your right it does use a really small peanut plug.    I have not finished putting it back together yet but It will not take long now that I have the cylinder back in place along with the intake and carb.
