Seen this posted by a old rep, so saving info.  = Generally speaking:
S= Semi Pro /Farmer
Black & Yellow (older Orange)
Open 2 port cylinder
1 piston ring (service parts had 2)
2 shoe clutch
P=Professional
All yellow
Closed 4 port cylinder
2 Piston ring
D/com valve
3shoe clutch
Crankshaft had hole to oil clutch bearing
Tillotson Carb had built in rev limiter
Couple in-line changes on both over there years.
Miss selling, servicing, and my Dealers!!!

But when you try and use a D009 72DL the tensioner dont have the travel and chain will be loose.  You have to drill the D010 tensioner hole back on the D009 bar so they will work.
