the ignition is in fact a two part, magnetic pickup and coil! I called the chainsaw guy in cannoyville, he said it's usually the pickup not so much the coil! This saw is in great shape with a 28" bar, I would love to get it operational again thanks for the help!

I got a new flywheel and coil about a year ago for my p41 from rottmansales.com he may have the part you need.
My saw was made in the early 80s.
