It's just an inductive voltage meter with LED post processing.

I bought this spark tester and have used it now for about 3 weeks.  It is inductive and so far has worked great.  I have had no false readings from it and being that it is inductive sure makes it simple and quick for diagnosis.
It was 35.00 dollars on ebay with free shipping.

I've got a little bitty one made by Snap-On when I went to a factory class put on by Briggs and Stratton .It's basically nothing more than a neon tester. Weather right or wrong they claimed it is better to use some type tester than the old screwdriver to block trick .

Bought it>  http://www.ebay.com/bhp/ignition-spark-plug-tester

I was using my spark tester the other day and got a red blinking light indicating low voltage.   Found out it was the spark plug.   Put in a new plug and got a green light and saw started right up.

I just use these.  http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=spark+tester   Dont think they would tell me anything about the plug like yours just did.  Thats cool.
