Fixing Stihl plastic

How to save forty bucks on a Stihl MS440 air filter cover.

The crack was separated about 1/4" at the front.

Used wife's hot glue gun to 'weld' a bead while holding it closed.  Actually was able to melt some of the parent cover plastic.  Wear gloves on the next one as it cools ever so slowly burning my fingers.

You can weld it with strips from another cover with a plastic welding gun? Or use weed whip string as filler material?

I rejuvenated a faded out but not **** Stihl cover by progressively sanding it down to 600g and then coating with Armor All. Takes a few applications of Armor All or Mother's.

Eventually the faded look will go away. This will have a satin look.

For a gloss look, don't ever let the cover see any Armor All or silicone but instead spray with gloss poly urethane after sanding.
