Jim I'm not ignoring the PureGas link.  California's a big state.  The closest place on the PureGas listing (Leggett) is almost 3 hours drive for Merle and myself.  The rest are closer to 4-8 hours away.  Sorry, I should have said something about that the first time you posted the link.

I was talking to a guy yesterday on the phone and he got to talking about buying gas for his Honda 2000 sports car. I got the idea from him that in his area of the SE USA that E-0 gasoline is available, at the drive up pump, at several automotive gasoline service stations in his city of 30,000. It is even available as regular and premium. Certainly not available around Ohio except at the marinas and they are not open from November through March. I get the idea you can find it at some local gasoline distribution terminals where they will sell you a five gallon can full any time of year. I have not bothered myself.

LP 1100 (if I remember correctly) is a slightly different color than 4040 A.  It is a little on the green side.

Fuel line is winging its way to you as of today Kevin.  Thanks for your kind offer to pay for line and postage, both here and in PM.  I appreciate your contribution to saw info and inviting me to this forum, couldn’t possibly accept anything.

Sent line out to another participant today too so everyone should have some informed thoughts coming at some point.

Received today Thank You.

Looks just alittle lighter yellow to me then the 4040.

Now for some warmer weather and time to do the 2 saws.
Still got a monte heater control module  to replace  when I get a break in the weather, plus the freaking water pump started leaking I noticed.

Received the line yesterday afternoon.  Slightly different color than 4040A.  Much stiffer than 4040A.  Interesting stuff.  Looking into tapered cut ends,I can sorta see the multiple layered construction.  Will get 'em into the Poulans soon.  Most likely this weekend.  Thanks again Merle!

1100LP meets the current EPA and CARB regulations for permeation emissions standards.  Wonder if they'll start 'spot checking' shops to see if they're using the gov approved line for repairs......

Replaced the fuel line on a Skil branded Poulan 3400.  Used some LP1100 that Merle had sent me (thanks again Merle).  Had some 'regular' Tygon 4040A line in the same size on hand to compare.  The LP1100 is much stiffer than the 4040A.  Much less 'cooperative' when threading it through the fuel tank hole and especially when streching it over fuel filter barbs.  Had to carefully heat and 'pre-stretch' the line before getting it over the barbs.  Even then, while getting started on the barb wasn't hard........getting the line fully seated took more time/struggling/swearing than usual.  It also was easier to 'injure' the line by overstretching it.

I used the 4040A for the vent line as it's more pliable.  The vent line on these has a plastic double-barb fitting with a duckbill valve inside the tank.  The other end of the fitting (in the line) passes through the hole in the top of the tank.  The line has to 'squish' quite a bit for the barb of the fitting to seat fully in that tank hole.  I was doubtful that the LP1100 would do that without excessive swearing.  Will be interesting to see how this new line holds up in the long term.  Since there's 4040A in the tank as well (vent line) this will be a good comparison methinks.  I have a few more saws to try this line in.

This pic shows the dark brown, waxy/decayed old line along with the LP1100 and 4040A.

This pic shows the 'taper cut' ends of both lines.  LP1100 on the left, and 4040A (in my hand) on the right.

Here I've carefully heated the end of the line with a lighter and pre-stretched it on needle-nose pliers prior to fitting it to the fuel filter barb.  This LP1100 does NOT like to stretch...

Here's the vent line that I've made up with a length of 4040A.

Here's the LP1100 fuel line in place, followed by the 4040A vent line.  You can see the end of the double-barb vent fitting peeking out through the hole in the tank.  Last pic shows the vent line end tucked in place.  You can see the different colors and 'flexiness' of the two lines.  Again...........LP1100 is on the left and 4040A is on the right.

Rebuilt the carb while I had it apart.  The fuel filter had fallen off the old line and was laying in the tank.  This let a BUNCH of crap get into the carb and clog the screens.  Cleaned 'er out and put in a K10-HDB kit.  Back up and running.8)

Thanks Jim.  That line will likely be much more resistant to ethanol (and immersion in fuel in general).  Sure isn't very user-friendly however.  Hoping the 'new' upcoming LP1200 is the best of both worlds....
