The nitro fuel hobby shop line will most likely be silicon.  That stuff is intended for methanol fuel with varying amounts of nitromethane in it.  The swelling you're seeing has nothing to do with the ethanol in your fuel.  It's the gasoline.  Silicon line has no tolerance for gasoline....

I actually have this line on my hedge trimmer for a few years now .......... no swelling at all

That is unusual behavior for that type of line when exposed to gasoline...

The problems with silicon line come when running gasoline.  The presence or absence of ethanol in the gasoline shouldn't matter.  I'm not doubting what you're saying BTW................just saying that it's very unusual for silicon line to hold up fine to continued exposure to gasoline.....

Done using that LP1200 small line.  When it went through carb base and  then through the  smaller tank hole. After pulled through it didnt regain it's shape.  Using the tygon 4040 from now on for the small line.
