It seems like the biggest problem with the fuel lines is that the inside is good stuff, but the outside is not made to hold up to ethanol.  I sent a message to saint gobain, asking if they had product that they could recommend to sit long term in a tank of gasoline (or gasoline with ethanol).  I don't think the people designing and making the line even know how the stuff gets used in many small engine applications.  two layer tubing is just fine when it's external to the fuel tank.

I'm trying to come up with a way to screw a barbed fitting into the tank on a weed eater or chainsaw where the fuel line passes through so that something totally fuel resistant can go on the inside, and anything fuel resistant on the inside can work external to the tank.  That blue stuff mentioned that seems to shrink where long term pressure is applied would maybe work better if it didn't have to pass through that hole in the tank.

The biggest problem with all of this stuff is that the stuff that is resistant to gas is not resistant enough to ethanol and/or water and vice versa.  If I hear back from st. gobain regarding in-tank use, I'll let y'all know.  The 1200 is listed on their website as being submersible.  but they don't say in what.

Saint gobain  in pic.  I wont use their tygon in 1100 1200 1500 anymore either. All of them their ethanol fuel lines.  Just their 4040 in small lines and just did in their 1/4"

looks like the inside is good, but the outside is not!  exactly what I was thinking would happen.  these are smart people, I'm surprised no OEM is asking them to make stuff that is good inside and out to use in weed eaters and chainsaws.

That was just about 1 year and not much use.  Now here is what the inside part does with more time and use. saint goblin too.  Comes oem in 4218 5020

Which causes this when the liner fails in both of my pics.  The inner liner fails and separates. Lets fines by and then clogs carb.

Tygon LP-1300?
« Reply #145 on: January 08, 2019, 04:43:06 pm »
My dad and I replaced the fuel line on his 80's Poulan a short  few years ago after the original line turned hard and broke.  We hardly used it and foolishly kept ethanol fuel in it.  I went to use it late last year and long story short the new fuel line (unknown brand) had gotten hard and broke off at in tank filter.

Searching around I found this site and saw that you guys were testing fuel line and not even LP-1200 was cutting it.  I emailed with makers of Tygon explaining issues you guys had with LP-1200 and they said they were coming out with LP-1300 to mitigate the outer layer failing.

Was wondering 1) has anyone tried the new LP-1300 and 2) if there was any other line that ya'll were using that can withstand being submerged in 10% and greater ethanol?

Thanks, Chuck

I do everything with echo oem fuel lines bought in bulk from Nate. 3x5 3x6 does about all of them.

I still use the oem tygon 4040 small line in .140 x .080 etc for the small poulan saws with the tiny line and weedeaters.

I don't have the saw here right now but I THINK it's a 3400 or 3700?  Should have it after this weekend so I'll know for sure.

I did read through that thread and it doesn't seem like any of the lines that have to go into the tank with a weighted fuel filter hold up well to 15% as tested ethanol and prolonged exposure.

Are you saying the Echo oem line does?

Also, I asked for a quote for the 3000' of LP-1300, they promptly got back to me:  its like $2000.  Just a LITTLE out of my price range seeing as I need like 2-3'. :)

I think I just used tygon 4040 and echo oem black lines for these.  Used for tank vent and fuel line. Easy saws to work on.

Oregon has a fuel line good for up to 30%  = it was mentioned in that thread

Need about a foot or so total total   9 - 10 fuel line 3-5 tank vent

Dont forget the duckbill in rear inside tank for duckbill and plastic barb deal etc

I have yet to see any problems with my echo oem black lines I am running. Unlike that 1100 1200 and that other garbage St Gobain puts in some saws oem
