Greasy Grungy saw cleaning ?
« on: April 18, 2017, 01:59:54 pm »
I am talking down right greasy grungy saws that come in. What are you using to spray on them to break it down to clean all the layers of chit off? Sometimes air and wiping off just isnt cutting it.

purple power or mean green, spray it on full strength, let it sit 5 minutes, spray off with a garden hose, air hose it dry. works pretty good on all but the worst stuff.

Thats what I have been reading.  Glad to hear you say the same.

I was thinking of getting a parts washer like my dad used to have.  With that degreaser and brush.  Your way sounds much easier.

for complete rebuilds i do the purple power thing then follow it with the parts washer/solvent tank, then back to the sink with purple power to remove the oily film that way when the saw goes back together its spotless

I have a parts washer and just use water in it with purple power and a brush.   Keeps me from messing up the house and keeps the wife happy.
Compressed air for drying the parts after cleaning them.   Cylinders and other smaller parts I will ultrasonic with dish soap.
