I just read the seller info on mako. I question the chrome being used over nicosil. Must be a reason why everyone else even OEM went nicosil.

1. Time in the industry: 30 years plus.
2. Material: MAKO is top of the line Quality cylinders with material coming out of japan the metal is AC4B.
3. Process: Before coating the cylinders are put through over 13 different process.
4. Thickness: The coating is 0.04 to 0.06mm of Chrome which does increase he life the cylinder.
5. Machining: Machining is done a CMC tool centres machine.
6. Die Casting Process: all of the cylinders are made by slow Gravity fed die casting, This process increases the weight of the cylinder which enhances the performance over and has been proven.
7. Tooling: Each cylinder has limited life and are replaced as the manufacture pf 50,00 pieces, further this process tools are checked more frequently and maintained on a monthly basis where others do not.
8. Quality Control: Special instructions are done on each cylinder inlet and exhaust ports which includes chamfering of all burrs, every 20th cylinder off the production line is thoroughly inspected to ensure quality is still number 1.
9. Nicosil: Nicosil is a good coating and has long life, but Mako stand behinds the Chrome coating process and thinks and feels paying the extra for Nicosil coating is unnecessary since Mako believes the Chrome is as good if not better.
10. packaging: All Mako packages are well wrapped and placed in a high quality box with full description of the product.
11. Supplier of: MAKO is also a OEM supplier for Chainsaws and Motorcycles.
12. Quality: Mako believes and has done research that their product has a 3 times longer life than any other Cheaper Aftermarket kit.  90 day Warranty

These are some pics of the mako piston and cylinder kit. Sorry my pics are not the best. Can't seem to hold still or not shake a bit. Over all I am pleased with how it looks. The intake and exhaust are smooth with no casting seams. The combustion chamber looks good as well a smooth transition from squish band to cc. Let me know what you think and if you want anymore pics

It's rather unusual to see a current production Chrome plated cylinder bore. Most are Nickasil.

Don't use Nikasil rings in a chrome plated bore.

I talked to another aftermarket supplier and ask about mako supposedly coating the HD cylinders. More or less just a smile and rolled eyes reply IMO.    ::) :D ;D

Using Chrome and their reasoning is BS IMO too. Even the other  aftermarket folks went from chrome to Nikasil.

Not sure how to tell the difference between chrome and nikasil. The supplier says it is chrome. I think it looks good. But only time will tell. It looks as nice or nicer than the NWP kit I have seen in the past.

Chrome is electro plated

Nickasil is a molten metal that is sprayed onto the cylinder wall in sort of a torch application.
