I'm not sure how well those split style Wiseco clips would work on a piston not designed for them .

You know like you can get internal snap rings the kind you install with snap ring pliers .I don't know if they might work or not .It brings food for thought if nothing else .

Like automobiles used pressed piston pins for decades and they just recently went back to bushed rods .The new design uses a clip exactly like a chainsaw only larger of course .The older style used a square faced clip with tabs like Jim said .Those though fit into a square faced groove in the piston not a rounded faced deal like a chainsaw

Aha so ,missed that part . ;)

Ha circlips .I learned a long time ago to clear everything off the bench and stuff the crankcase full of rags because if one takes off in orbit you never know where it might land . Yes ,I've lost a few .

I didn't go unscathed this time. As I was taking the old piston out, the circlip suddenly disappeared. So I was searching in the crankcase for it with a light when I noticed the circlip stuck in the shoe lace of my shoe. . . . Whew!
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

That was always my greatest concern .loosing one in the crankcase which I did .Only once though .After that I stuffed the crankcase with rags .

Lawdy that would be terrible .All that work to be destroyed by a 2 dollar circlip .
