O Rings On Gas/Oil Caps On Chainsaws
« on: December 21, 2012, 11:52:57 am »
Has anybody ever tried just replacing the oring on the caps instead buying all new cap assy? I have hardware store nearby that sells orings.

It is worth a try and a lot cheaper if it works

I've done it on many brands when they have the O or Flat style rings.

I matched some up at hardware store. Some you can by just the ring from the brands maker online or local dealer too.

I've done several myself .As far as the o-rings I have nearly an unlimited assortment where I work ,literally thousands .

The reason the Stihl flippys get contankerious is because the ethanol in the gasoline swells the rings up .The rings probabley can be bought through Stihl rather than a complete cap. Funny a 200T fuel flip cap is about 8 bucks at a dealer but for some reason they try to peddle them for 12 plus shipping on flea bay .Nice profit margin if you can get it .

I just bought the oring I need for the gas cap for .28 cents at the local hardware. I put it on and have no issues with it leaking gas. I also bought another one for .32 cents. They too much alike so I bought them both.
