Older folks buying chainsaws

There is a thread on older guy chainsaw shopping.  Never realized the deal Bob aka spike60 talks about with the new coils.

= Interesting variation here would be how far up the power ladder can we  go with the various easy start options? They are  typically found on  most makers smaller homeowner saws. And many guys looking for an answer  here can only go so far down that ladder and not be disappointed.
In  Husky land, the nicest saws you can get with a double spring starter  are the 545M2 and the 550M2. It's standard on the 545 and a kit is  available to upgrade the 550. Had several guys who were unable to start  their current saw that had no problem starting one of the M2"s.
Over  the years, I've seen plenty of times where a deco actually makes this  problem worse for older guys. Might be easier to pull, but your also now  trying to start a saws with 20 to 25 less PSI compression. Guys would  often miss the pop, and flood the thing. Nobody ever brings this up, but  if you put a gage on some these things and read the compression with  the deco open, you'd see numbers that would indicate a saw that's about  ready to come out of the toaster.
Other  thing that Husky has done is come out with some coils that will fire at  lower RPMs. Say 700 rather than 1400. Deco or not, some guys just can't  pull it fast enough to get a spark. And if you can't hit that number,  you'll never get it started.
One more thing: all of these ideas  sound nice, but make sure you are able to start whatever saw you pick  before leaving the store. That rules out box stores and online stuff. I  always enjoyed the smile on a guys face when he was able to fire up one  of those saws. Made them feel 20 years younger.
