Ring pin removal replacement relocating

I think it was Adam  @aclarke   that had told of doing this on Racesaws back in the day.

I am just wondering on how to remove and replace one or relocate if needed.

Thinking it was said using small drill bits for ring pins in pistons.

In most model airplane engines the ring pin is vertical down through the piston.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

Be all that you can be . . .

You can cut the old pin out easily with the proper diameter carbide end mill or possibly a  drill press if care is taken.  Easier to go through the top of the piston and peen the hole over gently. I've used wire/numbered drill bit shanks as the locator pin.
The pin placement needs to be done carefully and the ring ends will likely need to be re-profiled with a file of diamond burr as the profile of the locating pin is different now. Make sure the ring will completely collapse in the ring land

You would place the ring pin in a hole drilled vertically down? Then use a small drill bit into the hole as the pin? Just trying to make sure I have what you mean correct. Probably not going to need it anytime soon but I appreciate the info.
