Thats OK. When you said E3 I thought we were referring the SE spark plugs that are made autolite and champion.

ngk sparkplugs

3 saws in this week so far (and it's only wednesday >:( ). all needed new plugs. they looked fine and in good shape, but once installed, no dice.
I just got done about an hour ago with a 2 year old stihl ms270. would fire up within a couple pulls and running great after one more. once warm, would shut down and only 'pop' when puled over. this is the funny part- guy had it in to the local stihl dealer and they replaced the coil through warranty, didn't bother replacing plug ::) guy brings it home, and within the 3-4 minutes running, it shuts down. guy calls dealer to ask what's up... long story short, he ain't going back to that dealer. he brings me in his older stuff, but I've told him if it's something covered under any warranty, bring it in to a proper dealer. he brings the saw into me this morning. says he really needs it if I can help. I go and run it and she shuts down just like he says. throw a new plug in, and she's good to go. he's as happy as a clam. makes me take a $50 for changing a plug :D and says there's some good homemade beer coming my way before the weekend. I prod him a bit and tell him to buy a real saw ;D he laughs....
I can't seem to get bosch plugs here. but I have been having good success with the autolite brand. I think i'll be another person who avoids ngk plugs from now on. heck. even the champion plugs take a bit longer to fail. :-*

I'll merge the threads.

 8) excellent!
I looked for this thread. I really did. I guess the woman is right. I do look for stuff like a guy :)
I find it funny all 3 plugs failed the same way, but in a different way than yours. :P
once cool, they work like they should. if you can get all the cutting done in a couple few minutes, they're perfectly fine ;) just need faster saws I guess.

edit: I just re-read your first post. this one was a 'pop' and shut off aswell. just no restart until cooled off.

I just haven't bought any ngk plugs for stock because I'm getting a very good deal on these autolites'. I buy them through a friend that runs the local echo echo dealer. the last batch of ngk's I had were perfectly fine, but it's like every other manufacturer. once in a while there's an issue with the product. all weathers is using the champion brand and swearing by them. has had no issues with them. same as the home hardware store in Prescott that sells stihl products. no issues.
I remember back in the mid '90's how bad they were. mcculloch was sending out the saws with champeen's in their saws. we'd pull them before any running and installed either bosch or ngk. there were a lot of saws that wouldn't even 'pop' with them. mac daddy didn't want to hear about it, and the plugs were coming out of our (bentons farm equipment) pocket. waddever. the customer was happy and the price of a plug was small compared to the profits :)

Anymore I have quality problems with parts for all sorts of things, its so bad that I actually pay for own dealer parts for my Chevy anymore.
That being said, let me ask: isn't the purpose of a resistor style plug to keep down interference through the air? If that's the case wouldn't it be better running non-resistor plugs?

The resistor is in the plug to make sure it will fire above a certain voltage.  Its part of the EPA thing, to keep the plug running at high voltage.  I stopped using all R plugs because they have problems.
