Tank housings
« on: August 26, 2015, 01:58:49 pm »
At times an otherwise perfect tank housing is replaced when the front portion gets damaged. I tried several fixes, but the current one has been the most reliable and fast.It took me less than an hour.
I used binding wire as the primary fixing agent. Binding wire is not to be sniffed at. It possesses the strength to withstand quite a lot of tension before giving way. Use it in several places and it is stronger than the original reinforced polymer.
Top it off with  cotton cloth which is set like fibre glass using super glue.
And, the final topping is SAP granules(Super Absorbent Polymer). Easily available in most shops as an absorbent in baby diapers or the pads that women use.
I am uploading the step by step pictures.

Glad you like it. Tenth tank housing fixed this way yesterday.

I had a 3120 tank that was **** in that area and gave it to a friend that still runs 3120's.

I was saving it just in case I had to redneck fix it for my 3120's back 5 years ago.

Cool fix. I may have to try that one day. I tossed all the broken tanks a while back.
