Walbro carb kits
« on: April 29, 2014, 12:26:53 pm »
Just order in a bunch of diaphragm kits for walbro hda-12b carbs noticed that the pump diaphragm has changed or was manufactured in error. It appears that they have some kits (mine dated 06/12) have apart on the wrong side compared to a factory carb. See attached picture. The only way to get all the holes to line up is to in stall the diaphragm as shown in the picture. Anyone notice this?

Don't think that it would really maake much of a difference but thought folks should know

The new ones are put together backwards.

You may can use them to punch the two locater holes.

That will work if you have a 2mm hole punch. I have notified the distributor of the problem. He tells me that the whole batch he got in were dated the same 6/2012 and will be returning them for exchange. He verified a dozen kits out of his stock and all were bad so his whole stock goes back!

this isn't a new problem. I have some kits from back in the '90s with the diaphragm center on the wrong side. and punching the holes won't work as the shape of it needs to match the carb body.

You got me upset and I went and checked all my HD12B repair kits and they are OK.

I received some walbro WG for 3120 carb rebuild kits that had complete wrong diaphragm in the packs.

Sorry about that Jim! I had a immediate need for 5 so had to get them from another source and pay through the nose! The ones that were bad had the diaphragm cut correctly they just put the wheel on the wrong side, still junk but I guess they only half screwed it up!
