Good explanation, I remember being nervous about ruining a cylinder from a wandering carbide bit!  Now I realize the cutting is the easy part of porting!   Lol!!!

You gotta kind of remember a die grinder is more or less a hand held milling machine .Keeping  that in mind you know if you are feeding in or "climb" milling because the tool can certainly get away from you in heart beat .

All I have is a couple of Dremels and I very seldom run them wide open when  roughing in .
