Never been near that saw but I'm pretty sure I know what piston would be in it cause just about every small saw got that piston cause its the best piston made and that is the 52mm wide skirt 272 piston and I know Marcel never made any 54mm pistons but he made alot of those 52 mm pistons  so putting a 54 mm piston from a stock chainsaw would be going backwards , what you guys need to figure out is just because you can build a motor bigger does not make it faster , in alot of causes the saw ends up slower , crankcase volume is one of the biggest things you need to figure out to make a saw fast

Thank You Ed. ;)

Who you?

Ed I believe the 54mm piston is of interest for  the Poulan 505 (?) same thing that Marcel made Jerry...a few carcasses are kicking around the web and there is interest in boost port with finger ports for a full fledge 5cu muffler.

Who? Your the only one I see bringing it up with the 505.   :D

Like I said before 54mm is not legal for 5ci in a 505.  Why do you keep bringing up 54mm and 505?

Again Jerry's is 52mm  ::)

Jeff only person besides you I can find mentioning 54mm was Ej. Never did Ej put 54mm and 505 together in a sentence. Only you.

@ej only brought up he had 54mm pistons made.

I  doubt it was for a 505 cheater saw.

I am sure Jerry's saw is legal , The main reason Jerry wins so dam many races is because of him , he is that dam fast on cold start and runs the saw pretty much prefect , I'm not saying Jerry's saws are not fast because they are but put both together and thats a hard combo to beat

Besides that.

I have never heard of  Marcel Vincent building a saw that dont fit inside the rules. Have you Ed?

Know of many down here that built cheater saws, but never seen a MVP built one.

He bought a California 54 mm and so did Jerry..I don't care about a cheater saw..really..I don't imply anything Kevin..Id say it
I'm just intrigued why there is interest.

Kevin what does a 505 cc at? 82 or 3 and a 5 cu is 81.??? **** happens..Simon ran a 2mm stroked 272 or 371 in the 0 -80 in Minden the last time and said straight out on Eds forum they are all stroked now for Webster..
as a side note,Andy ran a 76cc and Chris ran a 72cc and were 100's behind him..whatever, old news.

the curious side in me wonders about 54mm pistons and 70mm...in this part of the world.Your the only one bringing up cheater saws.

I see now you really have no clue and was just assuming people were running a 54mm in their  poulan 5ci class saw. Shame to post such without knowing what you are talking about.

You made the accusation that Jerry was running a 54mm in his poulan.  All right here. ;)

Also FACT not read or hearsay like you post. I owned a 372 5ci 76cc.  I choose stock stroke to save $400. The stroked 372 81cc was just a hair  faster per 8x8 cut. Like the stroked should be.  ;) That was back then when the first 2 were built. Where they are now I dont care.
