neil I have a lot of race saws I have enjoyed every one of them. I never made these 70mm for anybody but my self if somebody wants its fine the 68mm is the limit that we wanted to put on the 3120 Husqvarna the 10 cube was my own thoughts on racing vintage races on direct drive and gear drive were the year has a limit. I been racing for over 30 years and I enjoy it sometimes I have got out of racing but always enjoyed it now i'm getting back into it and I have always wanted a 10 cube saw the helsels are great people and have and build the fastest saws in the world bar none

Good to hear ej, sounds like you know what you want and how to get it and nice to hear you have raced for so long.
State side racing is very different to ours, so are the saws of coarse.
I'm  a no body in regard to development, suits me just fine tho as I don't get into the AS builders arguments, I do read a bit on there tho.

I built an all-out 090 and raced it hard,it was very satisfying to beat the McCulloch cart engines! I wellded the crank so it wouldn't twist, and used a smaller lighter flywheel with electronic ignition from a smaller Stihl, never broke the crank.I would set it to rev to 14,500 and it happily did so.I also incorporated a separate head I designed, reed valves, max porting, and a huge carb, and the pipe worked well too. They are a heavy brute to cold start, but in my area the big snowmobile D-handle was ok. The only real problem was cooling,I really had to work to get as much cooling as possible, cause it could get hot fast. But we cut pretty big wood in the North in local contests,I won in Smithers B.C. and the logs were tough fir-28",2 passes, cold start. My time was 12.18 seconds.I love the old beast,it's just a showpiece inside now...
