I'm working on one of these older Craftsman/Poulan saw and it seems that none of my spare bar nuts will fit.  Is there a special nut for this saw?  It's also missing the small screw that regulates the idle, otherwise seems pretty good shape.  I have two of these both with the chain brake as I'm in Canada.  One yellow and one grey both with AV.

Hi Lee,

The bar nut is a standard 5/16-18 flange nut. If you can't find a flange nut a 5/16"-18 (Home Depot) with a thin washer works fine.

I have the idle speed adjust screw and spring which I will mail to you.

I think I have the address.

I might as well mail him the idle adjust screw and spring Kevin as Lee is only a few hours north of me.
I'll let him answer for the bar nut. It should be easy enough to get locally.

Many thanks Tim.  I was surprised that none of my bar nuts would go on more than 3/16 of an inch, even the other Poulan ones.  As I work at the Depot I should be able to find the right nut and washer.

Thanks guys, got to love these forums.

You are right, 2300cva might be closer. CVA is a HONDA crossover I think!

In fooling with the bar nut the bar bolt came out of the saw.  What is the best way to put in back in so it won't unscrew, thread sealer?
