I have 2 craftsmans 3.7 saws.  Both of those have plastic covers.    The 3700's that I have are magnesium.    I have seen covers for the 3700 poulans that were plastic but I do not have any.   

Also 150 PSI for a thin ring 3700 is within range for those saws although I have seen them up to 170 PSI.   If yours is low hours maybe it just needs more run time.   That saw with a 150 PSI will put a smile on your face.
