Well it kind of looks like Poulan put what muffler that had at the time on the 365,3500,3450,3750 series of saws.   It sure does look like they came with both front and side exit mufflers.

Just thought of something though. The newer 330 had side exit and chain brakes.

Yep.  My PP330 was chainbrake equipped and came with the side exit muffler.

For older saws:
Tune the H side so that it 4-strokes (burbles) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load.
When you lift cutting load, the saw should immediately revert to 4-stroking.  Fine tune the transition point for the wood you're cutting.

Maybe that might be something in Canada or with just the 3500 365. But all my 3450 and 330 with chain brakes was side too.

Interesting.  My PP330 was a local saw (Marin County, Ca) on CL.  Muffler halves weren't properly seated and it'd melted a wart/hole in the top cover from leaking exhaust.

If I dont sell this one as it sits local.

I am thinking of doing like I did to the 365.

But on this one put a green 3450 3750 tank and big intake and big carb.

The 3500 I got was front exit also on the muffler.    With the bigger intake and carb it will make a great running saw.

Above 3500 arrived  today I was told. Will check out later and see what I got.

Thinking of testing the 3500 and big carb big intake 365 with same 16" b+c in a cant to see difference.  Should be like comparing 3500 to 380 3750.

Guess I could thrown that new to me 3450 54cc big carb intake in the mix too.

3500 pulled 160psi and my rebuilt 365 with the old scored cylinder and new piston kit pulled 150psi

The new 3450 pulled 180psi.  :o  Think I saw 185 but went back to 180.
