Had a chance to run the saw a bit today, dropping and bucking a small dead ash and noodling some knotty oak rounds.  At first I was having trouble tuning it, until I realized that the fuel line had taken a set where it passes through the hole in the case/tank - it had shrunk and lost the seal.  So when I filled the tank fuel would spill out into the carb area and eventually soak the filter.  Anyway I fixed that and it ran great.

Until the rear A/V spring broke.  :o The break was a classic cyclic/fatigue failure where you can see the polished area on the crack as it propagated, until the remaining material was too small and broke.  Like I said - lots of vibration!

I had a spare so it was back in business pretty fast and I'm quite happy with how it's running.  But I would never take this saw out very far without backup!

The Type 4 saws have a different carb mount partition and intake boot than the earlier types.  They still have that damn slotted steel plate with the restrictive opening however.  Replacing it with a non-slotted plate of your own making is a good idea.  I'll have to compare a type 4 boot against the earlier boots to see what they changed.  There was a bewildering number of parts changes through the production of this series (and the various 'cousins' of these saws sold by Husky, Jonsered, and Partner).  At least Poulan put threaded inserts into the carb partition on the 46cc and 49cc saws.  The 42cc and 36cc version (and the 'cousins' in other colors) have the screws threaded directly into plastic...

My 2775 was originally a "Super Clean" model, which means they intentionally removed the turbo clean scoop to make the Poulan models inferior to the Husqvarnas.  I switched it to the turbo clean setup - I can't remember what saw the parts came from, it was either a 315 or a 2900.  At any rate, the rubber boot appears to be the same on all of them, but the nylon partition and the partition seal are different.

The parts for the 36cc & 40cc are quite different.

Yes the 46cc and 49cc variants have the integrated boot/impulse tube (there's at least one revision through the series), while the 36/41cc variants have the separate intake boot/ impulse grommet as used on the Husky 36-141 series (similar to a Husky 50-55 series saw, Husky 40-49 series saw, and some Partners).  The nylon partition and the associated partition seal were both revised a few times through the series too.  The 36/41cc partition is the same as what was used in their Jonsered and Husqvarna 'cousins'.
