that's this part:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOOL-FLYWHEEL-PULLER-HUSQVARNA-CHAINSAW-154-181-242-254-/390155263361?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad710dd81

you only use the screw for the small puller which is alot deeper than the others. my head is full of cobwebs this morning. the lady had to drive home last night ;) and it was ordered through a poulan shop.

of course, none of the ends have the part number on them >:(

you might be right about the fine thread one. and i remember you having a saw apart and asking about it. i never have had one of those down far enough to even notice the gear, never had to do the crankseals on one. but maybe, just maybe i'll get lucky enough to have one come through here someday. never have had a saw open to use it yet....

well! got the bottom end back together and now it's nice and smooth. not the box of gravel it was. :)
cleaned up the mounting surfaces for the cylinder and bolted it on to check the squish. aaaaaand she's a head tapper without a gasket. in all thee i'e been through, i have never had one do this. guess i don't have to take anything off the bottom of the cylinder ;) now to get me some thin gasket paper. of course, all the stores are closed totday and all the thinnest i have here is .035 :(
AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO THAT! ;D
gots to go in to work to check on the machinery soon. so i'll see what i can come up with from there. :)
happy easter!

What about finding some paper .010" or whatever thickness you want?  CAA magazine cover or something? Cover from a old road atlas?

I've made some nice gaskets from the card stock that chainsaw parts are mounted on.

I particularly like the poly coated (slick) card stock.

I bought a roll of thin gasket material at the hardware store the other day and it didn't work out so well. It acted like it was felt and was fuzzy around the cuts.

oh i'm looking at different catalogs and magazines for the right thickness :D so far i've found stuff around the .011, ,030 and .035. :)
once i find something in the .025-.028ish relm, i'll brush some gasket maker sealant on it and let it sit for a few hours to soak it in.
i know we have the right stuff at work, it's even .028 and crushed thickness is supposed to be .024. i wish work was closer so i could just pop in and grab a small piece.

i'm not alowed to play with sharp objects so i need someting i can chew into shape >:(
i think i found the perfect paper to use :) i found a small pack of plastic stick-on window screen repair. the paper is .023. i can crush it down to .018 if i push hard on the caliper's anvil. not a perfect test but it has been "accurate" for me in the past doing this. i'll throw it on and see what the squish is, then decide if i want to use it or not. :)
