thanks! i think i'll do it this way from now on the mesh isn't too expensive and unlike glue, you don't have to hold the parts together while waiting for it to dry. just gotta make sure the flocking is gone from the plastic. when it melts it shrinks to nothing and blocks the real plastic under it from coming up through the mesh. a little dremmel work and it's good to go.

also tore into saw a bit. looks like it was running well before being straight gassed

the bottom end is in excelent shape. bearings are smooth, crank/rod are tight. i'll throw some new seals and a top end on it. i have a good used cylinder and piston sitting in the shed. add some new rings and she'll be a runner.
