broken clutch spring
« on: December 13, 2013, 08:29:19 am »
Hey fella's, I need some advice. My 3.7/3700 clutch spring broke. According to Sears Parts Direct the whole clutch assembly is available  but the spring alone is not. Any one know of an alternative spring that would work? I have a 2375  and that clutch spring looks exactly the same. I do not know if the length is the same. Any input is appreciated.    Chris

Wouldn't hurt to try, if the length is the same when you lay them out.  The one you need is 5300-24353, and the Wild
Thing clutch is only listed as an "assembly", without separate parts, so you really can't compare the two part numbers.

If you've got a Poulan dealer close to you (check on their website listings), you could see if they have one in stock.
Almost need to wait to order one until you needed some other parts, as the shipping is more than the spring itself.

I just want to make sure before I search. There are 2 3.7 models by craftsman. One by  Roper and one by Poulan.

Thanks fella's for the replies. Cut4fun, it is the poulan made craftsman 3.7. I was trying to fix it real cheap, my saw budget this time of year is non existent.
Hotshot, is there such a thing as a Poulan dealer  ?,LOL.   Maybe Santa  will bring me some saw parts. Chris

People are parting out these saws all the time especially on ebay.  Just keep your eyes open and you will find what you need cheap.
