Craftsman 358.350580 (c.2002) oiling excess
« on: November 22, 2013, 08:04:02 pm »
Hey all. I was just given a craftsman/poulan saw to add to my collection ( c.2002, 42cc, 18") and after a thorough cleaning and tune, it seems to oil the chain excessively. Knowing that these automatic oilers are not adjustable, is there anything else I can look for? Are these known for being oil users? Not that big a deal, but it sure makes clean up less fun!

I have not heard of them being excessive oilers but the ones I have are the Poulan 260.   I have a couple of them that I have rebuilt but, the oilers are so cheap I usually replace them when rebuilding.

If she is oiling good leave it alone IMO.  Just make sure you are using little less then 1 tank oil say 3/4 or so tank oil to 1 tank mix gas. That way you dont run out before fill ups.
My new 5020 oils real good too. I like that.

I agree. I will check to make sure that it isn't running out before the fuel does.
Thanks for the help fellas.
