?     This isnt making sense. ???    Looks like the 3.4 but list a 3.0 18" 49cc.

Kevin that's the "underrated" 3400 Sears sold as a 3.0 to meet a lower price point.  It's actually a 56cc 3400/3.4 with different badging.  P/C/Rings part #'s all match the 3.4/3400.  Was a major case of getting more than you paid for.  Seen a few of those.  Worked on a few when I worked at Sears Service in the early-mid 1990's.  IIRC, I worked on more of the "3.0" saws than 3.4 and 3.7 branded CounterVibes.

I just noticed the file name for that saw manual photo.  "crapchainsawpic".  WTF?????????

For older saws:
Tune the H side so that it 4-strokes (burbles) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load.
When you lift cutting load, the saw should immediately revert to 4-stroking.  Fine tune the transition point for the wood you're cutting.

Kevin use a popsicle stick or plastic straw to measure the bore of the gray saw. Do the same with the 375 and compare measurements. If the gray saw bore is close to the 375 measurement, then it is a 3800.  3700/375 and 3800 bore measurements are just slightly different. A 3400 would be smaller...

Betting the smaller 3.4 sold as 3.0 due to the 358 number above on it.  Hope it is a 3800 though, but would bet against it.
I will find the bores and post it here too.

Some info I have saved in the poulan 4000 thread.

4000 bore 49.2mm

3700 47.7mm

3400  46mm

The 3400 run around 125 to 135 psi.
The 3700 will run around 150 to 160 psi
The 4000 is the same as the 3700 they both have two thin rings and the only real difference is in
the bore size as far as compression goes.

I have seen the exception posted where someone got up to 175 psi on the 3700 and 4000 models.

Any other info just add to it.  Thanks

I bet right.

Just checking through exhaust port. It is like 46.2mm give or take some and chrome piston 2 thick rings. So one of those craftsman  358.356081 3.0 that is really a 3.4

375 was the 2 thin ring bigger bore

If there is a poulan collector interested, just holler.
