Some info I have saved in the poulan 4000 thread.

4000 bore 49.2mm

3700 47.7mm

3400  46mm

The 3400 run around 125 to 135 psi.
The 3700 will run around 150 to 160 psi
The 4000 is the same as the 3700 they both have two thin rings and the only real difference is in
the bore size as far as compression goes.

I have seen the exception posted where someone got up to 175 psi on the 3700 and 4000 models.

Any other info just add to it.  Thanks

New owner put his gauge on the 3.0 3.4 and 375 to check psi. I never did as they felt normal ranges to me.

3.0 3.4 135psi

375 150psi

Good numbers for both.  Doubt they pushed any more than that when new.

She wasnt scuffed in ext side looks sweet.

Now maybe intake side might be suspect after seeing air filter.

So on hold parting it to see if can be a runner. But thats on back burner while doing other folks saws and fishing. ;)

Above is the kind of stuff I been seeing alot of latley.

She oil runs and has good psi for a 3400.

After getting good and warmed up, Didnt pass the redneck crank seal test.  Noticed idle rise when on pto side down.

Placed a order with Advanced Auto for seals.  National and ordered 8 of the 253747. =
Well pizz. Got my order and no crank seals in it. They canceled that part of order. Oh well.

So = Rockauto shows both of them online to ship. So ordered 6 SKF 6119 this time, plus 3.99 shipping.

Sold as Craftsman 3.0 18" that is really 3.4 3400. I took on trade awhile back.

Also tool I made for pulling 026 fly sides works like a charm on these. 1-2 seconds out.

Finally got time to do the seals. Nothing extra needed. No filing bevels in case etc. The SKF goes right in like normal seals.

Start and ran but starving for fuel. Thought needed kit. But just needed cleaned.
