I call them polan but some people make fun and call them pull-on

We should share what we know... someone may learn...

That I believe is the Poulan 260 equivalent.    Good saws in my opinion for a homeowner 42cc firewood cutting.
I think it comes with 3/8 low pro chain also.  I have a couple of the Poulan version.

Thanks 660 Magnum for the response. I say polan as well.  After looking thru several IPL 's the closest match I come up with is a 1975 type 7, except for a different muffler. I realize the rebadged saws may differ, but I was curious what fits it in case of future repairs.  Thanks again.   Chris

Thanks 3000 FPS. I thought so at 1st, but mine is non-AV. But there are alot of parts that appear to be the same. I noticed several of the plastic Poulans have the same parts. It has been a decent little saw. Thanks again.  Chris      Yes it does have the 3/8 low profile chain.

Maybe it could be like one of the Poulan 42cc wild things.   Is your saw marked 42 cc on the starter cover.

I have a habit of pronouncing it as poolan but I think polan is more correct.

3000FPS; the starter cover says 18" 42cc. Is the wild thang 40 or 42cc?
Cut4fun, thanks for the reply. I've read alot of your other posts as well. Enjoyed them all.  Chris

I've got some variation of that .It has a spring type of suspension system ,Never could figure exactly which model of Poulan it is .Runs .325 chain .

I tweeked it a tad and it runs like a scalded  ape --for about two cuts then leans out fast .I suspect seals but that's as far as I've gone with it .A "work in progress " just like many more I guess .

Al, thanks for the input. I've read many of your posts as well and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I'm a new member as of January and have been doing alot of reading. Learned quite a bit so far. Seems like a tight community here. My kind of people. Look forward to learning as much as I can. The saw that got me started is a Craftsman 3.7 / 18" (1982), Poulan 3700 rebadge as you know. Was given to me by a good friend for taking down a small tree. Have it for 7 years now, didn't know what I had  until recently. What a great saw. Carb kit, oil pump rebuild , new 20" b+c , and it runs like a **** ape. See y'all around the forum.   Chris
