Poulan carb fix HDA 164 NLA?

Bought a new HDA-164 on Ebay from Atlantic Tool Warehouse last week.  Didn't have to have but thought I would pick up a spare.  Guy called me yesterday and told me he checked with 6 diff warehouses was told they are NLA.  Refunded money.  Anybody heard NLA on this carb?

When setting them back. Dont forget 137 along with 164 in the searches.

HDA137 is the one you want anyways.  The HDA164 carbs are problematic.  I had to replace one with an NOS HDA137 a while ago.  Unfortunately, they both are listed under the same Poulan #, so ordering a carb can be a crap shoot.

This is the first time I have heard of the HDA164 being NLA.    I think I have a spare one that is brand new and a 137 spare that is brand new.

There both hard to come by, I have been looking for a hda 137 to finish a completely rebuilt 3750 since summer.   I try to avoid the 164 when I can.

Saw will act like it has an intermittent air leak.  Wandering tune.  Poor idle quality.  Won't respond consistently to changes in needle settings.  Rebuild kit and long sessions in a USC didn't help my HDA-164.  Replaced it with an NOS HDA-137.  Ran fine then.  Still have the HDA-164 somewhere....

Just throwing this out there.  So far I have not had a bad 164.  Had many on 330's 3750's 3450's. I have bought used 164's and still never a problem with them either.

Did read about the last of the new discontinued 330's back in the day having issues with 164's though.
