I've pressure tested a few carbs and found leaks that I never knew existed

Just throwing this out there.  So far I have not had a bad 164.  Had many on 330's 3750's 3450's. I have bought used 164's and still never a problem with them either.

Did read about the last of the new discontinued 330's back in the day having issues with 164's though.

They (HDA164's on PP330's)  seem to be hit and miss.  Either you have a good one.............or you have a BAD one.  Modified Mark had a bad one on a new saw.  Carb was replaced with an HDA137 under warranty.  I'm no stranger to saw carbs, and I couldn't save the 164 that I had.  I still have the carb stashed somewhere...............................just in case somebody comes up with a 'fix' for these carbs.

Yep.  Scott (Treemonkey) is a wizard with HDA199 carburetors (they can also be evil)......................but even he has stated that he hasn't yet figured out how to fix the ailing HDA164's.  They don't respond to his HDA199 fixes....

Pay more for your new 137 then you got in your saw.  3 of them listed $120 apiece. He says the used item is wrong, NOS.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360499325229&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

I saw that earlier also and found it to be nothing short of ridiculous.
