Need Butterfly Valve and Screw Poulan PR5020
« on: May 05, 2022, 12:42:14 pm »
Bank lady asked me to look at her saw.
First thing i noticed is the missing butterfly on the air valve.
I will have to acquire the butterfly and screw before I can even see if the saw will run.
Has fire. Piston and cylinder look OK.
Anybody have a parts saw (or air valve) they can rob these parts from? PM me.

I don't want to sink $26 to $30 into an air valve assy, only to tell her the carb's gonna have to be replaced or rebuilt.

Air filter has a split and hole in it. I have a used filter I can mount.
(I sure ain't gonna try to flush the crankcase!)  ::)

I dont have any 50 parts saws but will check the 42 ones mm sometime to see if same 16mm.

Here is new assy air valve link.  https://www.ereplacementparts.com/assy-air-valve-p-1005004.html

Don't know but she took it to a shop and they told her $130.
She didn't want to pay that much as, that's what the saw cost her.
Maybe they took it off out of spite. ???
The 2-hole link where the blue plastic choke lever attaches was loose and turned backwards so I'm assuming they messed with it to some degree. Don't think she would have attempted to do anything with it herself. Who knows. Hubby maybe?

There's probably not much vacuum (or positive pressure) at the air valve is there? I thought about plugging the air valve throat with a vinyl pipe cap temporarily just to see if I can get it to run. Don't know the condition of the carb diaphragms.

If I can determine that the carb will work, she would probably not mind payin $30 for a new air valve. Bar some other problem showing up, such as the oil pump.
