The slotted AF cover was specific to the 3700 as well (although that could have been swapped on).  The Poulan replacement parts are painted that grey color.  A repair shop was supposed to paint the parts whatever color matched the originals.  Remember that these Poulans were painted a variety of colors for different retailers.

Replace the fuel/vent lines, vent duckbill valve (on a double barbed fitting just inside the tank), air filter (Stens and Oregon sell 'em still), and carb kit (K10-HDB).  I also suggest you replace the crank seals.  Very easy to do on these saws.  530019097 is the OEM seal.  SKF 6119, SKF 6120, and National/Timken 253247 are substitutes that you can easily get from your local auto parts/bearing house.

I think when the US discontinued the 3700 they sent all the parts specific to that saw to Canada. All the green saws of that series I have bought have the 3700 AF cover. I also have two 3400's that are labelled 61cc in the fine print on the decals. I'm guessing that's what happened anyway.
Can't complain about that.
I also believe the slotted cover was sold as a dealer option as a winter cover.
