Cut4Fun,

Thank you for sharing this site with me.  I have noticed a few familiar names from AS.  As such, I know I am in good company.  I hope to learn alot.  I do not have a camera to supply a photo of my Poulan Pro 4218AVX. I have recently rebuilted the 4218AVX with much help from Mike Sullivan who is also a member here as well as on AS.

To all the other members I hope to meet you and look forward to sharing what I can about the little I know about chainsaws.  However, I am very interested in learning about saws. I have a questions for Poulan chainsaw owners, does a muffler modification place less stress on a saw?  What are the benefits/drawbacks of a muffler modification to a chainsaw?  Thanks, Islero  :)

I will say out of all the saws that I have listed so far that my favorite is the TM 3750.  This one I got on ebay because it had hole punched in it where the chain adjuster goes.  I split the case and welded it up from the inside.  All it has cost me so far is the seal on the clutch side and to weld it.  That saw sure does run.  I am putting a 20" bar on it this week-end with a chisel chain and see how it does.

I've had 3 of the TA Editions so far.

Nice welding on your 3750 fix. I cant weld for chit so I have to go with other fixes.  I took in a 330 that was hole punched from bar tensioner too and  I just used seal all and it is still holding up.

Welcome.

IMO the muffler mod aids in a cooler running saw with more power and quicker cuts if done right. Dont forget to readjust your H side on carb richer and adjust L and Idle if needed after muffler mod.

What saw are you asking about?  Pics of muffler etc?

Thanks on the welding job.  I have read many of your posts and have found them to be  very informative.  I do not make this offer to just any one but if you need any welding I would be happy to try and help you out.   Roger

Thanks for the offer on welding.

I also have a long distance friend here in Ohio that welded up a partner 5000 handle for me once.  Never met just shipped back and forth.  Saw and handle still in service.

It was broken 75% across.

That is good you have someone for some welding.  It seemed like a niche in the realm of chainsaws that I did not find to many people doing especially the magnesium.  So there is only one way to learn and that is to get in there is do it.   Well if something comes up the offer still stands.
