Hi Guys.  Another new kid here.  Working an a 1999 Craftsmen/Poulan 42cc. It would run and then die after a few seconds.  Fuel filter had become detached from a split gas line. Walbro 391 carb. Rebuilt the carb and replaced fuel lines and primer bulb. The large screen in the carb was covered with gunk but the rest of the carb was not too bad. Now the problem.  All back together and will not start.  After a few tries with choke on, when turning choke off, it gets harder and harder to pull.  Any ideas?

It does flood.  I let it sit.  Retry and sames results.

if it keeps flooding, chances are you have either the diaphragm/gasket in the wrong position, or the needle is being held open from junk left in the carb.

diaphragm
outer cover.
you didn't bend up the fulcrum did you?

Don't think so.  I used the Walbro gauge on it and it was flush. I just checked the spark and it could be better with the Bosch plug that is in it.  I will replace it tomorrow and give it another go.  Like you say, if it keeps flooding, I have to recheck my assembly of the carb.  Thank you for the help.

Success today.  New plug and it sat overnight to clear the flooding.  I think the new diaphragms benefited from sitting in gas overnight also.
