4620AV...
« on: November 23, 2013, 10:11:37 pm »
Just wondering if anyone has tried running straight 30 wt oil in these inferior oiling machines?  I've replaced my oil pump, and it has really done nothing for me.  Just give me some thoughts, I'm at my wits end!

I used 30wt on bars for years. I didn't start using bar oil until the last 15 years.

Most regular weight bar oil is 30wt with tackifier.   Winter weight is lighter

I've done it in the cheaper poulans and others when ran out.  Even 10/30 in the winter in the top handle ones like 2000.

Have you tried flushing your oiler lines with kerosene?

I do not run straight 30 wt oil but I have cut some of my bar oil with some synthetic 5-20wt oil during the winter.   As long as I see oil on the bar and chain that is good enough for me no matter what your using.

I haven't tried flushing with kerosene, I'll have to get some and try it...would diesel do the same thing?  I have easier access to that.  If I don't get something figured out, I'm just going to start using water !!

Yes use diesel.

I have used mix in a pinch before. Just be careful with gas.

Thanks, I'll try with diesel...have cut bar oil with diesel before, with no luck.  I'll use straight fuel this time, and see what that brings.  By the way, I don't think that I would have the "you know what's" to try gas (if you know what I mean), that's way too close to the muffler for my taste...thanks for the good info guys, John!
