I have to say Gregg, that black top looks better than my all green one.  That's a beautiful saw.  It doesn't hurt that they're one of the most impressive stock saws ever made too!!!

Here are a couple of my 5200

Gregg,

nice saw!

Is this the bar they are currently seeling on ebay, quite cheap?
I am wondering if this is a reprint, since it is also available as "Sachs-Dolmar"
If so, do you know what the base is? Is it an Oregon or sth else?

best Chris

I'm not sure which bars you are referring to on ebay.  The bar on my 5200 in the pic, is a new old stock Poulan branded bar made by Windsor back in the day, for Poulan. A Windsor Speed Tip bar is what it is, can't recall the model style off hand. It wasn't cheap..but I guess wasn't bad either. I think I paid $77 plus shipping. I had to bid for it. I needed it though...LOL  to complete my 5200. Its what was a popular bar for them when they were new. Its a 30" .50 ga. 3/8". They also had a 32' & 36" I believe, but they were .404 pitch.

These Windsor bars require the use of the "S-clip" that you put over the bar studs. The studs on the earlier Poulans were 5/16". Later, they changed to 3/8" studs.  A lot of the Poulan branded bars you see now days were for these later saws, and the Poulan Pro saws like the Pioneer based saws, like the 655 etc, or the Poulan 8500.

I know a place you can buy the bars outright without trying to bid for them. IF they are still in stock. Been awhile since I looked there.

The guy is a member here with a website.   ;)

I'll go take a quick look see.

Here you go. Different then the poulan bar Gregg has though.  Have seen them for sale in the past too.

NOS Poulan bars.   http://foresterchainsawparts.com/Chainsaw-Bars/NOS-c41/

Thanks guys,

There are a lot of original looking bars on ebay, for different brands

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SACH-DOLMAR-30-BAR-CHAIN-COMBO-404-063-GAUGE-OEM-/151175231460?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2332bef7e4

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SACH-DOLMAR-30-BAR-CHAIN-COMBO-3-8-063-96-LINK-OEM-/171114883419?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d73de95b

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHAINSAW-36-BAR-063-POULAN-POULAN-PRO-6900-7700-8500-OTHERS-BOX351SIDE-/230979089427?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c76d3413

since NOS stuff is very rare and these bar-combos are very cheap, I am just thinking that someone makes good reprints, e.g. of these ones, as a basis:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Poulan-Pro-Chainsaw-415-425-445-Carlton-24-Speed-Tip-Bar-81-Mount-3-8-058-New-/360803246253?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item54018ca0ad

this is why I was asking. At least Sachs-Dolmar did not used Oregon bars in Germany, they were making their own bars at that time. Maybe it has been different in the states, maybe this is a nice aftermarket stuff that looks original.

best Chris!

I'll admit, I don't know beans about the Dolmar bars. But all those you just linked to, and the ones Kevin showed, are for the newer style Poulans & Poulan Pros. They aren't the old Windsor made bars that were made for the older Poulans back in the late 70's through the 80's. Thats why I was tickled to find the one I did.  ;D  You do on rare occasion find one of them in shorter bars, like 16", 18", sometimes 20" but are rare too.

Here is an example of a original NOS 18" Poulan bar. Notice the s-clip that came with them. So they could be mounted on the 5/16" Poulan bar studs.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Poulan-18-Bar-Chain-Combo-3-8-050-66DL-Chainsaw-OEM-Bar-44163-/291020028314?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43c225399a

The Oregon bar tail style is D176        The Oregon bar style on the ones you guys posted earlier are D096 & D007 :)
They would be fine, if I was lookin for one for a 8500 Poulan, but thats a newer model saw than the 5200 I have pictured. I wanted to get as close to original when I did the restore on that saw. Not that it makes much difference. LOL Its for my own enjoyment anyway. Not going to a museum.   ;D
