Poulan 2000 Woodmaster
« on: August 03, 2014, 08:18:11 am »
This saw was dropped off yesterday (recycle center) along with  J-red and Mac parts saws. This one is complete in nice cosmetic shape and the old gent was the original owner. I don't want to keep it, but I'd like to see if it would run first.
Poulan does not go back that far with info (ANSI 1985 compliant) so I'm figuring it's '85 or later mfg. and I'm not sure the oil mix ratio. I'm thinking it's 50:1 but would like to verify that.  SN is 1L221J632
Thanks

Most poulans I have seen list 40:1.  50:1 is a epa thing IMO.  I would go at least 40:1.   I run 32:1

I bought a poulan 2000 new in 1994 and it was 40:1.

I have a 2000 also and run 32-1 in it for the oil and gas mixture.   Not a bad little reed valve engine.   Lots of used and new parts still available on the net for these also.
PP 505, 475, 445.

Thanks for the help and information guys. The neighbor came over and we were checking it out. I really hadn't done anything to it yet other than adjusting the chain. So we are thinking "will it run"?
So we put some gas in it and 1/2 dozen pulls later is running. Sputters & stops. Start it again and it does the same thing. 3rd try it fired up and smoothed out. We cut some wood for about 5 minutes and he says "what do you want for it"?
I says, how about $25. He gives me the money, we have a beer to seal the deal, and he takes it home.
Don't ya just luv a happy ending..  ;D
