Poulan 205
« on: August 07, 2013, 04:46:12 pm »
This is a Poulan 205 I bought about 6 months ago.   It was spraying gas up through the carb so I took it apart and found a small wood chip lodged in the reed valve holding it open.   So I rebuilt the carb and put in new fuel line and the saw runs like new.   I have an 18" bar for reach and used it the other day at the BIL and it works like a champ.
It is very close to the Poulan 2000 except it is 38cc and has a chrome bore.  Here are a couple of pics.

That's a very good saw Roger.  One of the best of the Micro family.  Basically the same as the Husqvarna 23 rebadged Poulan.

Thanks Aaron.   This saw was really in such nice shape I decided to leave it completely stock which is no longer typical for me.

Isn't the 18in bar pushing it? My S25CVA has a 14in bar which it seems to love.

I do not cut 18" logs with it, I only have a longer bar so that I do not have to reach as far sometimes.

I had the 205 out today and was cutting some dead limbs off of this cotton wood I have in the yard.   The saw starting acting up getting hard to start and the idle would speed up when I tilted it side ways.    So I decided to go ahead and order some crank seals and replace them.   I already tore the saw down to the seals so that when I get them I will pop them in and be done.

Thanks Tim.   When this thing is running correctly man does it cut good.   Out of all the top handle saws that I have this one is my favorite.   Even over the S25DA that I have.

Roger is there a AV version of this saw. Not talking like the heavier 38cc ones with the big av sticking out the back with longer handle.
