gotcha on your location. didn't realize you were from down under :) these are anywhere from $99 up to $150 here depending what store has the sale that week.
have you turned the saw over to se if the 4 mounting bolts are tight? even a little loose means you need to pull the engine out and do a re-seal.
the clutch needs to come off so you can look at the oil pump. and to change that seal, you need to remove the oiler gear from the crank, which can be a pain if you don't have the right tool or a good copy of one. but never seen a bad seal on one of these, just loose mounting bolts causing an airleak. chances are you're going to have to pull it down anyway. no other way around it.

Yeah Pete you paid way to much for a builder, but then again where are you located?
I just shipped a ported 346 PHO to Australia because their prices are 3to4 times more for saws.  Even with shipping  he came way way way ahead. Shipping was  around $110.  Wouldnt pay to do that on the little clamshell poulans though.

I been selling runners here in 2150 to 2375 for $50.

Thanks guys yep paid to much but as it was described as a runner,ah well we live and learn, bolts are tight underneath first thing I checked I remember following a post here on loose or missing case bolts, seen that gear tool last night on ebay but thought if I am replacing the pump completely I wouldn't need one but I gather the seals inside the pump.  Got a jonsered 2050 on the shelf fried top end (straight gas) got it for two bucks a long while back, got a new piston and air filter from ebay and will order some new seals and have a go at that one.
I have a lot of good vintage runners but there are days a lighter saw is more desirable
Lately have been using my 009s 010 a husky 142 and dolmar 100s a lot as they are much lighter and the stuff I have available is mainly cyprus pine, Still love my promac700 and 850 great cutters and good saws

no the seal is behind the pump, not in the pump and you need the proper tool to remover the gear. the oil pump is attached to the plastic case, not the engine.

These saws are simple to work on. I was going to attach a cobbled up service manual for this family of saws that I happened to have; but it was too large. This covers both non-vibration-isolated saws and also AV saws in this family. The engine, oiler, starter etc is the same so don't let the diagrams confuse you. The oiler isn't complicated so it should be fairly easy to troubleshoot.
I will send you PM.

to replace the crank seal, you need to remove the oiler gear.
to replace the oil pump, all you need to remove is the clutch/drum parts and the oiler is right there.
you said it had an air leak. just replacing the oil pump isn't going to fix that. it does not have a seal in it. it is not mounted to the engine and had nothing to do with how the saw runs.
you need to remove the metal worm style gear to get the seal off the crank.
clear as mud? ???

ok now we are getting somewhere The pics I have seen of the pumps showed a small gear and I thought thats what you meant.  I suspect an air leak as I can not tune the carb and when tipped clutch side down it revs out and when straightened up dies,  This thing will get done when the parts come along at the right price and with our aussie dollar taking a dive it could be awhile but I have plenty of others to play with
