Poulan 2055 Chainsaw
« on: July 18, 2017, 12:16:53 pm »
I can't rotate the crank shaft on my Poulan 2055. You can rotate it in either direction about 1/2 turn and then it hits something and stops. Is this interference caused by a stuck valve?

No valves.

Start with these 3

Pull muffler.  Look at piston rings.

Pull recoil look for something stuck to magnetic or blocking flywheel or like coil come loose and hitting flywheel.

Pull sparkplug, is it all there?

Sounds like something might be stuck to the magnet on the fly wheel.    Take out the 4 screws that hold the cover on where the pull rope is and remove the cover.   Take the spark plug out and turn it by hand and inspect.

The ignition module had slipped out of place and interfered with the fly wheel. What's the gap I should use for adequate spark?

I use a business card.    Put the card in front of the coil and rotate the flywheel until it pulls the coil to the magnet with the card in between.   Tighten coil in place and your ready to go.
