I have been know to stick some trimmer line in the hole and run the screw in there. I guess that is a mute point for you no longer have the screws?

that's exactly what i do. :) all sorts of saws and other equipment come in with stripped plastic threads. depending on what it is, i'll clean the hole out well and use a bit of ca glue (same as super glue, but comes in different thickenesses. i buy it from my local hobby shop) to hold it in. :)
when I grow up, i wanna be an adult.
