Tim the crafty Canuck geezer is great. He is getting tired of the snow and the cold here.
I haven't even been ice fishing this winter which I hope to rectify this weekend. Fishing usually sucks here in February.
Looks like it's been a bad winter all around. People running out of wood and getting **** on propane pricing both sides of the border.
My friend who lives a few of hours North East of me has neighbors that have burned through 7 cords of wood so far.
7 or 8 cords is the norm up there for wood. All are facing a propane shortage and fuel oil prices are through the roof.
The bottom of the wood pile I'm drawing fireplace wood from now is two feet below the packed down snow I stand on to pick the wood.

AND...yes, I would like some cheeze to go with that whine.

I would like to try a few saws out but my tryout pieces are now buried in snow and well frozen to the the ground as well.
Over the winter I have got a 3400 running well, a Homelite Super Mini AO (same as Super EZ), A Homelite XL-902 AM, a Pro Mac 700, A Mac Super Pro 80 (new paint as well) and a Jonsereds 801. All pretty neat saws that I am very happy to call my own.
I am dying to get out and rip up some wood with them.
Tim

Wow Tim you have some wide variety in saws there.    I would be anxious also.

I am working on converting a old gas hot water heater into A wood burning stove.   I will use it in my work shop for next winter.

Great idea on the water tank refit for your shop. Should be great.

My friend has caught them up to 28" this year up in Haliburton. He tells me they are like hauling up dead weight. Fun to hold up for a pic though.
That's where I'll be this weekend. The fishing is generally slow this month so I don't expect too much. He's been my best friend for many years and we used to hunt or fish most Saturdays before he moved away.
He has been missed so it's great to get together, fish or no fish. ( He only has an MS 260 but he is forgiven)
It's also hard not to like a guy that licks his 870 receiver when it's -38C. I guess you know how that played out.

I'm sure it involved you laughing until you just about passed out.  What I want to know is WHY you didn't take any pics???

Well, no camera aboard. He's a Newfie. The Newfie part wasn't that he licked the reciever, it was that he told us. He said it sure hurt when he ripped it off. Read that as taste buds on the receiver. I wish he'd left it on so I could have reached over and pulled the trigger. That would have been a memory.

Re: Poulan 2300AV...........in Craftsman colors.

A few quick shots of my latest garage sale find.  Another low-time Craftsman saw.  Still covered in shelf grime, except where I wiped it off to see the #'s.  This one's a Craftsman 2.3/16" badged 2300AV.  Piston looks very good.  Needs the usual fuel lines/carb kit rehab.  Will do the crank seals (530019059-----SKF4913) too for PM.  Also nees a new fuel cap.  The updated Micro caps (that don't leak) are available from Poulan and Husqvarna for about $5.   Husky used those caps on some rebadged Poulan Micros (Husky 23), blowers, and weedwackers.

Starter pulley is busted.  Still has the factory cord with the molded on cylindrical plastic anchor.  Haven't seen one of these pulleys bust like that.   Usually it's the 'ratchet' section in the center where the pawls grab that get's chewed up.

Has the PowerSharp setup, but the PS chain has been replaced with a loop of conventional chain.  Haven't yet looked to see if the PS stone has been removed.  The AV and non-av Micro series saws use the same clutch covers, so I may swap on a non-PS cover from  a parts saw to make this one a tad lighter.  It has a 'lever' type chain tensioner, but the crankcase is machined for a conventional tensioning screw that I'll rob from the parts saw.

One interesting thing is that it has some sort of rim drive clutch drum.  Didn't have time to look closely at it today, so I don't yet know if it's a floating rim type or an integral rim type drum.  Rim didn't move when I poked the chain with my finger.........but the chain's pretty tight (a bit over-tensioned really) and may just be holding the rim still.  Will look closer.  Never seen any sort of rim sprocket on a Micro series saw before.  I have a couple 9 spline floating rim setups on my XXV series saws.
