Poulan 330 in Craftsman Black
« on: January 31, 2015, 01:42:19 pm »
I've found this Craftsman 3.3 saw and the ANSI approved date on the sticker is 1985. No chain brake, very clean saw, and the switch on the handle is consistent with pics I've seen. There looks to be a  clutch drum outboard of the sprocket? I'd never noticed a clutch design like this.

Through research I've done here, I see there are several newer models of the 330. I'm trying to learn about these older Poulan saws as I realize they had some great saws. Is this one of them or is there nothing to be gained over a newer, fresher model? Thanks for your input. Oh, asking price is 100 but I'm sure they'll come down.

3.3 is like the 3300 not 330.   3.3 has the smaller carb and smaller intake boot. 3.3 is lighter then 330.

I just past on a sears best in black 3.3 for $100 and ship.  Good price for one ready to go and cut IMO.

Does the 3300 go back to 1985? The only difference I see between this 3.3 and the newer 330s is the filter cover. This 3.3 has 1 bolt on top of the cover. Thanks

The 85 sticker is just a generic 85 sticker I have on others.  My dad bought a 3300 in late 80's. say 87-88 thinking.

That 3.3 in you pic could be a chrome bore single ring like the 335 predator or a double thick ring one too.  3300 is a bare bore version.

Like I said earlier.  carb, intake and yes air filter set up.  Cylinders are different and dont swap.

Thanks guys. I'll have to go take another look at the 3.3. I've found a real nice 021 with case for 50, wont stay running once it warms up. I'll have to decide where to put my play money this month.

IMO 3.3 is way better saw and built better saw then a 021. I rate a 3.3 over a 026 myself.
