Poulan 3300 carb adjustments
« on: July 12, 2016, 11:04:23 am »
I just acquired a Poulan 3300.  Saw runs okay, but the carb adjustments have been messed with (it smokes a lot).  Been looking for a shop manual on line and can't find one for free.  Anyone know what the factory carb settings are?  Or can you point me in the direction of a free shop manual that I can download?  Thanks.

Never seen a manual for one other then IPL.  Carb is normal adjustments.  Start 1 to 1.25 out from lightly seated sometimes 1.5 out to be on rich side.

Should have a walbro carb HDA-49. The complete kit is K22-HDA.

Make sure you check your impulse line and fuel line for cracks.

Thanks.  Haven't had it apart yet.  The H and L adjustment screws were out about 3 turns.  Not normal for what I'm used to, but I never had a Poulan before.

Factory called for 1 on both L and H.  L was to be set using the lean and rich drop off points.  Mid point between and then a bit richer is getting close.  I find the HDA-49's on my 3000's are closer to 1 1/4 on the L and and a tad leaner than 1 on the H.

As was mentioned, the factory impulse lines need checking.  The material for the line did not stand up to the heat at the cylinder base.  I have not seen one that hadn't become brittle.  Check the carb intake boot carefully for cracks as well.
