2 stroke oil has changed a lot since that 3400 was made and it's recommendations on oil ratio JMO. I would drop the 16:1 ratio and I would try 32:1 or 40:1

I had a poulan and a stihl that would run till warm then start cutting out and die. Wouldnt start till cooled off. Both were coils.

   I do not know why I did not mention the coil as causing that for I have seen that also.
