I have quite a few of the 3750 and 3500 poulans that I have modified and getting more compression was never an issue.

There had to be something else going on with the rings.   If that squish is down to .025 or less, then I would expect to see at least like Kevin mentioned around 180 psi or more.

I know the ones that I modified would run circles around the Stihl 036's that I have.

It's been a while but I finally got the 365 up and running with the stihl o39 piston, had to make a .055 thick base gasket,,040 plus a 015 for the .017  I took off the base to achieve a .025 squish and compression is 185 cold and settles down to 180 psi hot. Saw runs super strong with the extra torque now and is much snappier, this mod was well worth the effort.

I also reinstalled the old stock 365 piston for comparison that was broken in with a new ring and the compression would only go up to 125psi.

I agree also just never could pin point it. Do you happen to know where I might locate some  crank bearings for that series of saw?

I just used to order from Poulan name ones from Jack's small engines. Half the price of same bearing under husqvarna 372 name.
Least they were.  Back then maybe 4 at most. Wonder if they doubled now too.

Use 6202 from others. Why I showed that above.  Same bearing in 372

If you got oem for that you did good.  Afm there was cheaper.

These are good. 6202 Nachi Bearing. If shielded ones just pop them out like everyone does.

Also in SKF
