The Poulan 3800 is 61cc.
The Poulan 3700 is 60cc

Poulan 3800 has two thick rings and a chrome piston with a bare cylinder.
Poulan 3700 has two thin rings and comes with a chrome cylinder and bare piston.

The Poulan 3800 will run on average around 125 psi on the compression.
The Poulan 3700 will run on average around 150 psi on the compression.

I have seen both saws with higher compression but it is not the norm.

All the anti vibe are the same.

I have modified both saws and the 3700 is always a lot stronger saw.
I do have two 3800 saws and both have had the cylinders lowered so the compression is now 140 to 150 psi.
They are good firewood saws and I have used them for bucking and noodling up logs.

The 3700 I modified runs strong enouph to use a 24" bar with no problem.   I tacked it at 13,500 out of the cut.

Oilers are the same.

The 3800's I have both use the plastic clutch cover where as the 3700's use a mag clutch cover.
I do not know if that is the norm or not.

The 3700's use a vented or louvered air filter cover and the 3800's sometimes use the type of cover as on 3400.  No vents.

Real close to 140psi on this one. Thanks for all the great info guys.

Good deal.  140 psi is real good for a 3800.   That saw should do very well.

Is this info close? http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/25200e3d40adfea088256d50001675f4?OpenDocument

When did they stop making this series? Year wise

That reminds me after looking this over. Auto oiler and manual oiling works.  8)

Don't know the exact year that this series was discontinued.  The gold PoulanPro versions (PP375/385/395) were made in the early 1990's, after the green 3400-4000 saws were discontinued (at least in the US).  The PP versions all have the 4000 style starter and AF/AF cover (black for the 375, and grey for the 385/395).  375 has the 3700 P/C.  385 and 395 have the 4000 P/C.  395 has a chainbrake.  Again, this is just in the US market.   The Canadian and Australian markets are whole other animals.

Not my pics.  The PP375 and PP395 are relatively common in the US.  The PP385 is seldom seen.

Do you guys think it would really matter if this saw has the new recoil sticker or not? To me it doesnt matter, but to a end buyer do you think it would?

I'm going to sell or trade for something more to my liking in a series I want.  Why I ask.
Actually had a guy wanting to rent the saw with a 24" I could put on it. But I was like NOT!

I do not think I would worry about the sticker.   If the buyer really knows what the saw is then I do not think it will make a big difference.

Same chain on both saws. Guy just tested the 3800 and PP365. He left with the 3800. He said he is heavy handed and tends to push on his saws in the cut.

Took a like new stihl 180c with case and extra chain on trade.   Didnt really need or want but helping out a younger guy from work. Know how it is.
Plus I was thinking of my dad with the easy start deal. Even though I dont like that tool less tensioner deal.
